It's still snowing here and the winter seems to stay longer than expected. I searched again through the boxes and I found another table cover, made by crochet by my husband's grandmother. She did this when she was 87 years old! I love this table cover because it reminds me of this strong woman, who adored her grandchildren, like she later adored her great-granchildren. For me it is the best way to decorate the table for a late afternoon sunday tea with a slice of homemade apple or pumpkin pie, enjoying the company of those loved ones from here and thinking about those dear to us which are far away...

There is a week now since we came back from Netherland. A difficult trip, but beautiful, full of adventures and worries, but also full of joy and lovely moments. I let the time pass, so those lived then can settle down; we are back to our usual reality, but  some part of us remained somehow attached to those places and especially to those people. We had been so welcomed! We felt so good! Thank you, our dear friends!

I came back home decided to bring into our house that personal beauty, the one created by someone's hand and not by a machine. I adored the decorations made by those creative ladies I had met and I am determined to do as they do. I started by scatter through the house the beautiful things I have bought or get, so we can always see them and remember this way the days we've been to Netherland, the beauties we've seen and the special people we've met there. Then I looked into old boxes and got out wonders long fortgotten, unfairly forgotten. And I intend to use them permanently, so we enjoy them everyday. Here is an example hidden in a box: a table cloth made by crochet which is covering from now on my coffee table and which makes a good pair with the crochet ribbon I am working on these days; don't they look fine?

E foarte frig aici, si ziua si noaptea.

It's very cold here, day and night. Among the usual things that have to be done, somehow I managed to work something for my soul, without too many rules, only with joy. A simple technique, found while I was surfing on the internet, helped me create this table runner. I did only the top, the next days I will have to quilt and finish it, but I already like it ;-).

Back in time, in the traditional romanian villages, winter was the season for gatherings. Women of all ages were meeting at one family or another and they were all working: they were weaving linen or hemp for shirts and bed sheets, they were spinning wool for sockand for heavy winter clothes, they were sewing napkins and shirts, they were embroidering and they were tailoring clothes. They had golden hands... And it was natural for them to sing while working or to tell stories in the golden light of the petrol lamps, while the frost was drawing ice flowers on the windows...

Nu-i asa ca a iesit ceva dragut? :-)

My little girl recreated a small gathering, using toy furniture, two small rugs and two dolls made of wool by her. Isn't it nice? :-)
